History[edit | edit source]
Bock was born in Lambeth, London, in 1802, the son of John Bock and Charlotte Bessell.[1][2]
He married Sarah Green (1809-1883) at Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, on 8 November 1829.[3] They had at least five children, including:
- Alfred William, born Shoreditch, London (1833-1891)

- Eliza Lavinia, born Adelaide, South Australia (1843-1913)
- Charles, born Adelaide, (1845-1888)
- Thomas Bessell, born Adelaide (1855-1856).
Bock held the license for the Alfred Hotel, Sturt Street, in 1870 and which he later (at least 1873) renamed as the Park Hotel.[4][5]
His wife, Sarah, died at the hotel in November 1883:

His son Charles died at the hotel in 1888:
