History[edit | edit source]

Peyroux was born c.1828.[1]

Peyroux died on 22 June 1920:

The many friends of Mr. Auguste Peyroux will regret to hear of his demise, which occurred at his residence at 3 o'clock on Tuesday morning, at the ripe age of 92 years. In the early days he was connected with Sheppard's brewery, when the town was at its zenith. He always took a deep interest in local matters, did a lot to stimulate mining, and was a large shareholder in the mining ventures of the district. He was a foundation member of the Manchester Unity I.O.O.F. Lodge, which was established in 1856, and he passed through the chairs and was elected Noble Grand, which office he filled with credit, to himself and the Order. It will be of interest to many to know that the Buninyong lodge was established one day before the Ballarat lodge was formed. The deceased was highly respected throughout the town and district. He leaves two daughters (Mrs. Bradley and Mrs. Sleeman) to mourn their loss. His remains will be interred in the Buninyong Cemetery on Wednesday at noon.[1]
