At the Gordon court in January 1869, Bernard McCabe was granted a license for an unnamed hotel at Mount Egerton.[1]

In April 1869, McCabe was declared insolvent:

Bernard M'Cabe, Mount Egerton, publican—Causes, &c., losses in business and sickness in family. Liabilities, £132 9s; assets, £24 14s 6d; deficit, £107 14s 6d.[2]
