Broomfield
Broomfield is a small village in Victoria, Australia. It is 3km northeast of Creswick[1] on the road to Allendale.
Background[edit | edit source]
It is believed to be named after an early resident.[1] Gold was found at Broomfield in 1872, and the area grew quickly during the 1880's when deep alluvial mining was taking place in the area.[1] Some sources have claimed that it was also known as Wallace Town, but this was a separate settlement. Wallacetown is 1.2km northeast of Broomfield and 1.2kms south of Allendale.
