The Caledonian Hotel was a hotel in Ballarat, Victoria, <1857-1892>.

The hotel was on the corner of Ascot Street and Urquhart Street, Ballarat.[1][2]

History[edit | edit source]
In 1887 it was described as a wooden building, with nine rooms and a bar.[2]
Community Involvement[edit | edit source]
- In July 1886, a candidate for the South Ward, David Cooke, advertised a meeting at the hotel.[3]
The People[edit | edit source]
- In June 1857, William Smith's license application was postponed for one week as improvements had not been carried out.[4]
- In December 1873 the license was granted to Alexander McKenzie.[5]
- In September 1887 the license was transferred from Mary McKenzie to John Noonan.[1]
- In October 1889 the license was transferred from John Noonan to Edmund Taylor.[8]
- In October 1890 the license was transferred from Edmund Taylor to John Healy.[9]
- In July 1892 the license was transferred from John Healy to Jane Miller.[10]
