The City of Hamburg Hotel was a hotel in Ballarat East, Victoria, <1873-1891.

Site Edit

The hotel was in Main Road[1], possibly on the north west corner with Clayton Street.[2]

Background Edit

It was one of the 40 hotels closed in 1891 in Ballarat East as part of the changes to licensing laws.[3],

History Edit

The owners were paid £934 compensation for the closure of the business.[3]

In January 1893 it was reported that the building was now a fruit shop.[4]
