The Clarence Hotel was a hotel in Daylesford, 1854.

The hotel was in Daylesford.[1] It was opened in 1854 by David Edward Rowland, and was the first license hotel in Daylesford.

Background[edit | edit source]

The Clarence Hotel became the Turf Hotel at the end of 1856:

"...Inspector Brannigan, with three constables, entered the Turf, late the Clarence, hotel, at this place...The hotel in question, a few months since, passed from the hands of Mr. Chapman to the present proprietor, Mr. Tulloch, a gentleman highly respected by all who have had the plea sure of his acquaintance.[1]
