The Cornish Arms was a hotel in Ballarat, Victoria, <1869-1892.

The hotel was on the corner of Doveton Street and Doveton Crescent.[1]

History[edit | edit source]
It was one of the 26 hotels closed in 1892 in Ballarat as part of the changes to licensing laws.[2] The owners were paid £1024 compensation for the closure of the business.[2]

Politics[edit | edit source]
- In August 1869, a candidate for the North Ward, R. Baker, held a meeting at the hotel.[3]
- In August 1886, a candidate for the North Ward, P. B. Ivey, held a meeting at the hotel.[4]

- Ballarat North Fox Terrier Club - August 1886, first quarterly meeting.[5]
The People[edit | edit source]
- In December 1873 the publican's license was granted to J. B. Rogers.[6]
- In May 1880, the publican, Mr. McCartney, was elected to the Ballarat District Licensed Victuallers' Association.[7]
- In August 1886 the publican was named Male.[4]
- In December 1892 the publican was George Robertson and it was owned by J. B. Rogers.[1]
