Drummond Street is a street in Ballarat, Victoria.

The street is about 2.8km in length, running north and south from Macarthur Street to Skipton Street. Addresses north of Sturt Street are known as Drummond Street North, while those south are known as Drummond Street South.


History[edit | edit source]

It was named after an early police official in Ballarat.[1] William Henry Drummond was appointed as a Goldfields Warden in January 1858.[2] In November 1859 he was appointed as a coroner at Beechworth.[3] In 1862 he was at Rutherglen as an agent for the Board of Land and Works, and in 1864 was appointed to St. Arnaud.[4]
