A meeting of miners was held at the hotel in April 1857:

Frenchman's and White Horse Leads. THE MINERS on the above leads are requested to attend a meeting at the Dutch Harry hotel, at two o'clock, on Saturday next, the 10th instant, to hear the report of the committee, to elect a new one, and to transact business of importance. By order of the committee, THOS. AVISON.[2]
