Edward Barrett was a publican in the Ballarat district, <1859-1879>.
History[edit | edit source]
Barrett is listed in the Victorian Government Gazette as having paid for a publican's license at the Ballarat office in September 1859.[1]
In 1861 the publican's license for the Grey Horse Hotel at Scarsdale was granted to Edward Barrett.[2] In June 1862 Barrett's license was named in the newspaper as the White Horse Hotel.[3] This is most likely an error in reporting. In December 1871, Barrett had his license renewed for the Grey Horse Hotel.[4] In December 1878 the license was granted to "F. Benett", a newspaper typos for Barrett.[5] Barrett's license was renewed in December 1879.[6]
