Background[edit | edit source]

History[edit | edit source]

In May 1908 the hotel was included on a list of 47 hotels to be delicensed by the License Reduction Board.[1] Evidence was heard in September 1908 on the value of the hotel:

FOREST HOME HOTEL. (Part heard.) Mr Mark Lazarus appeared for the licensee. Colonel Greenfield said, based on a rental of £1 per week, and a 15 years’ purchase, his capital value would be £150. Delicensed, he would value the property at £226 10s, of which £145 5s would be for land. A weekly rental of 2s 6d might be obtained. William H. Chandler also gave evidence. His capital value, based on a rental of £1 per week, and 12 years purchase, was £625. Delicensed, his value was £300, and he thought a rental of from 7s 6d to 10s could be obtained. The decision was reserved.[2]
