The Front Bar was a hotel in Ballarat, Victoria, 2012-2013

The hotel was on the north west corner of Mair Street and Peel Street.[1]

Background[edit | edit source]

The hotel was formerly known as the Australian Hotel. It has traded under other names since, including Paterson's Siding Hotel (1980s), Bridge Hotel (2011), Front Bar and the Freight Bar (from 2013).


History[edit | edit source]

The hotel opened in July 2012 following renovations to improve the facilities and to attract a more upmarket crowd than the former Bridge Hotel.[2]

The hotel after closed in October 2012 after only three months.[3]

After renovations including a rear verandah deck and shipping containers the hotel reopened in July 2013 as the Freight Bar.[4]
