The hotel, also known as Fussell's Commercial Hotel, was in Sturt Street, Ballarat[1], opposite the State Savings Bank.

It may interest Old Pioneers to know that Mr Duncan Macfarlane, who built and owned Fussell’s hotel, is now government-resident or commissioner at Jackson’s Bay, New Zealand. There is some talk of his coming over with the representatives of. the Dunedin Fire Brigade at the coming demonstration.[3]
