George Armstrong was a publican in Ballarat, <1857-1872>.
History[edit | edit source]
A license was granted to a John Armstrong for the Specimen Hill Hotel in June 1857.[1] It is most likely that the name was incorrectly reported, as George Armstrong is name as the publican 12 months later when his license was renewed and he was issued a night license for the hotel.[2][3] His license was renewed again in June 1859 and May 1860.[4][5]
Armstrong built and opened the Camp Hotel in Sturt Street, Ballarat in 1861.[6] He was granted a publican's license in August 1861.[7] He renewed his license in June 1862 and 1863.[8][9][10]
He is listed in Windle's Ballarat Directory (1869) as being a publican in Sturt Street.[11]
In December 1872 his license was renewed for a hotel in Sturt Street.[12]
