Gertrude Tognini was a publican in Daylesford, Victoria.

Gertrude Good was born c. 1874.

She married John James Tognini in 1904 in Victoria.[1]

Gertrude and her husband operated the Daylesford Hotel, which they renamed as Tognini's Commercial Hotel in 1928.[2] After her husbands' death in 1935[3], Gertrude and her son held the licence as executors of the estate. Gertrude had the license transferred to herself:

NOTICE OF APPLICATION for Transfer of VICTUALLER'S LICENCE— We, GERTRUDE TOGNINI and JOHN JAMES TOGNINI, Executors of the will of John James Tognini, late of Daylesford in the State of Victoria Licensed Victualler deceased who at the time of his death was the holder of the Victualler's Licence for the Hotel known as the Commercial Hotel situate at Daylesford in the Licensing District of Maryborough and Probate of whose will was granted by the Supreme Court of Victoria on the 21 at day of March, 1936, and I GERTRUDE TOGNINI of Daylesford Widow of the said John James Tognini HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that we will on Monday the second day of November, 1936. APPLY to the Licensing Court for the Licensing District of Maryborough sitting at Melbourne for the transfer of such licence to Gertrude Tognini in her own right. She died in Sydney on 9 July 1947:

TOGNINI.—On July 9, at 24 Campbell street, Paddington, Sydney, Gertrude, the beloved wife of the late John J. Tognini, and loved mother of Jack, Commercial Hotel, Daylesford, in her 73rd year. —At rest.
TOGNINI.—On July 9, at the residence of her sister (Mrs. Thorp), 24 Campbell street, Paddington, Sydney, Gertrude, of the Commercial Hotel, Daylesford, dearly loved aunt of Gertie, in her 73rd year.[5]

She is buried in the Daylesford Cemetery[6]:

TOGNINI.-The Funeral of the late Mrs. GERTRUDE TOGNINI will leave her late residence. Commercial Hotel, Burke Square, Daylesford. TOMORROW (Saturday. July 12), at 2.30 p.m., for the Daylesford Cemetery. R. F. VEREY & SON. Funeral Directors, Daylesford (in conjunction with Walker, Carter. & Son. Sydney).[7]
