History[edit | edit source]

In April 1868 the hotel was the venue for a pigeon shooting match:

A pigeon-shooting match was held at the Golden Lake Hotel, Springdallah, on Friday and Saturday. The silver cup, five entries, £2 each, was won by Mr James Harrison; and a sweepstake of £3 10s was won by Mr C. P. Funeke. The handicap sweepstake, of £1 each, with £10 added by Mr Lowe, was won by Mr James Martin. Several other matches came off, and the shooting generally was considered to be superior to any that had previously taken place at any matches in the locality.[1]

In July 1873 the hotel was offered for sale by the Gartside brothers of Piggoreet.[2]
