The Grapes Hotel was a hotel in Ballarat, Victoria, <1858-2024>.

Site[edit | edit source]

The hotel is in Grant Street[1], on the corner with Humffray Street. In 1858 it was described as being at White Flat. The current building was erected in 1906.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

The hotel was one of the hotels reviewed at the Licensing Court 1888 hearings.

In December 1899, a man was arrested at the hotel:

A young man named Harry Bennett, aged 21 years, was given in charge to Constable Hayes, at the Grapes hotel, Grant street, last night, for alleged insulting behavior.[3]

  • December 1867 on the body of Robert Anderson, a boy who had drowned in a water hole at Golden Point.[4]
