Heinrich (Henry) Beckman was a publican in Ballarat, 1886-1896>.

Henry Beckman was fined in September 1886:

Henry Beckman, proprietor of the Union hotel, Humffray street, was fined £5, with 2s 6d costs, at the Town Court yesterday, for having the bar of his public house unlocked after prohibited hours. Defendant stated that he was not aware it was necessary to have the inner door of his bar locked.[1]

In June 1888, the hotel was described in during a License Reduction Board hearing:

Union hotel— Henry Beckman, licensee and owner. A wooden building with 11 rooms, five rooms in a separate building; fairly furnished and fairly well conducted; business chiefly a bar business, one lodger; four-stall stable.[2]

This hotel was delicensed in 1891, and Beckman continued to operate with a colonial wine license. This license was transferred to Elsie Beckman in December 1986 when he took over the Cremorne Hotel from George Blythen.[3]
