History[edit | edit source]

Akers retired from the Camp Hotel at Learmonth in 1910. The Ballarat Star reported:

TRANSFER OF LICENSE. The license of the Camp hotel, Learmonth, has been transferred from Mr Jas. Ackers to Mr John Doolan. Mr Ackers during his residence in Learmonth has been a generous helper in all public movements, and his departure will be regretted. He was an enthusiastic member of the bowling and cricket clubs, and the former will lose one of its best leaders, and the latter a good all round player. Mr Ackers is retiring from the Camp hotel, which he has sold to Mr Doolan on the 11th inst., but it is intended by his friends to defer the leave taking to a later date in the month.[1]
