Lloyd held the license for the Argyle Hotel, in Doveton Street, Soldiers' Hill. In September 1937 she was in court for selling liquor during prohibited hours:

Lily Lloyd licensee of the Argyle Hotel was fined £2 yesterday on a charge of having sold liquor during prohibited hours. A charge that men had been found on the premises was withdrawn.[1]
