The Limerick and Templemore Hotel was a hotel in Ballarat, Victoria, <1874-1908>.

The hotel was in Grant Street.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

The hotel was one of the hotels reviewed at the Licensing Court 1888 hearings.

In 1891 at the license hearings, the hotel was described:

Limerick and Templemore, Grant street— One story, wood, all in good repair. Assessment, £63. Licensee—John Maher. Owner, John Maher. This house is well conducted and has no convictions recorded against it, and it is in the centre of a thickly populated locality.[2]

  • September 1894, R. McGregor, a candidate in the Ballarat East election, used the hotel for a political meeting.[4]

  • August 1876, annual meeting of the Queen Victoria Cricket Club.[5]

The People[edit | edit source]

  • From at least 1874 the publican was John Maher.
  • In December 1897, Ellen Maher became licensee, after holding a temporary license as administrator of John Maher's estate.[7]
  • In September 1908, the publican was E. Beecham.[8]
