Matthew Ryan was a publican in the Ballarat district, <1863>.

History[edit | edit source]

Ryan held the license for the Golden Well Hotel at Dowling Forest. In 1863 he became the first publican at the new Camp Hotel at Learmonth.[1] He purchased the freehold from the estate of a store keeper, Mr. Hedricks in late 1863. Members of his family operated the hotel until 1907.[2]
