The Moorabool Hotel was a hotel in Millbrook, Victoria, <1858-1879>.

Site[edit | edit source]

The Moorabool Hotel was at Moorabool Creek.[1] This is Millbrook, which is on the Moorabool Creek, and was originally called Moorabool. Its location in early 1864 was described in a reminiscence by Ann Sullivan:

They camped on the banks of the Moorabool Creek on the site of the present stone bridge and main road. Here the late Mr Stubbs kept an hotel.[2]

The People[edit | edit source]

  • In August 1858 George Stubs was granted a license for the hotel.[3]
    • In 1862 the George Stubbs applied for a publican's license, but withdrew the application before the hearing.[1]
    • In December 1875, George Stubbs had his license renewed.[4]
  • In December 1878 the publican, Martin Stokes, had his license renewed.[5]
    • It was renewed in December 1879.[6]
