History[edit | edit source]
In August 1915 the publican complained about thefts from the hotel:
The premises of the Railway Hotel, Linton, have recently been made a special object for the attention of some person or persons of burglarious instincts. The fastenings of back doors and gates have been damaged, and the other night the padlock of the rear gate was broken off and taken away. The motive of these proceedings is probably the hope of finding something worth carrying off, and wood, carbide, and fowls have, been missed, but it is the constant irritation and state of anxiety caused to the licensee that is the chief trouble. Mrs Buttrose intends to communicate with the police authorities if the annoyance is continued.[3]
The hotel was offered for sale in 2019 for $520,000.[2]
The hotel was still on the market in February 2020 at a price of $480,000. The hotel four bedrooms, a separate manager's residence, bar and bistro.[4]
