Goodge died in Blackwood in July 1902:

THE funeral of Mr. Richard Goodge took place in the afternoon of Thursday, 31st ult., and it was evidence of the popularity of deceased, to see the large concourse of people who followed his remains to their last resting place in the local cemetery. Rev. J. E. T. Green (Methodist) officiated at the grave. Mr. Goodge was born at St. Tosoal, Cornwall, and arrived in the colonies in 1858.[1]
