Samuel Pollard was a publican at Cape Clear, Victoria, <1867-1876>

History[edit | edit source]

In December 1867 Pollard was fined at the Linton Court for not holding a publican's license. The hotel was not named in the newspaper report:

John Robertson v Samuel Pollard, ditto. The defendant was questioning the informer, Stockton, very closely as to whether he could prove that it was Mrs Pollard who served him, when Mrs Pollard, to the no small amusement of the court, ejaculated, some observations which, appeared to implicate her. The shire revenue-inspector proved the ownership of the hotel in the usual way; fined £5 and 21s costs; in default fourteen days' imprisonment; execution stayed for a month.[1]

In September 1871 Pollard was granted the license for the Globe Hotel at Cape Clear.[2] The license was renewed in December 1871 and 1872.[3][4]

From at least December 1873 to December 1876 Pollard had the license for the Cape Clear Hotel.[5][6][7]
