The Sphinx Hotel was a hotel in Ballarat, Victoria, <1867-1868>.

The hotel was in Armstrong Street, Ballarat.[1]

In January 1867 the hotel was advertising it was offering board and residence to two or three gentlemen.[2] The hotel was offered for sale in January 1868:

THURSDAY, 23rd JANUARY. BY ORDER OF THE MORTGAGEES. CHAS. DYTE has received instructions from the Mortgagees to sell by public auction, on the premises, THE SPHINX HOTEL, Armstrong street, on Thursday, 23rd January, at Twelve o'clock sharp, All that piece or parcel of land, containing by admeasurement half a rood, be the same more or less, situated in the county of Grenville, parish of Ballarat,being the southern moiety of allot 8 of sec 8, township of Ballarat, commencing at the south-west corner or angle of the said allotment 8, thence bounded on the west by part of allot 17 bearing N. 50 links, situate in Armstrong street, Ballarat, on which is erected a brick building known as the Sphinx Hotel, having a frontage to Armstrong street of 33 feet by a depth of 99 feet. Terms Liberal. - For particulars of title apply to HENRY CUTHBERT, Solicitor, Lydiard street, Ballarat.[1]
