The publican was fined in August 1917:

In the city court on Friday Robert Taylor, licensee of the Sturt Hotel, Sturt street, was fined £5 on a charge of having sold liquor during prohibited hours. He was also fined 5/ for having permitted unauthorised persons to remain on the premises. [2]

The publican was fined in August 1926:

Margaret Taylor, licensee of the Sturt Hotel, was fined £2 at the Ballarat Police Court on Friday for having allowed men on the premises during prohibited hours.[3]

The publican was fined in August 1932:

Robert Taylor, junior, licensee of the Sturt Hotel, was fined £5 on Monday on a charge of having had the bar door open during prohibited hours. [4]

The hotel was offered for auction in February 1951:
