Site[edit | edit source]
The Telegraph Hotel was in Clunes. It was offered for lease in 1865 and described as follows:
The Telegraph Hotel and Societies' Hall, Clunes, To be Let. THE above Hotel to Let, centrally situated in the town of Clunes, and on the Creswick, Clunes, and Talbot main road; containing large bar, cellar, two parlors, dining room, nine bedrooms, assembly room 36 by 26 feet, kitchen, pantry, spacious yard, nine-stalled stable, and groom's room. The only reason the present proprietor has for letting the above hotel, is that he is going into the pastoral and farming business. The assembly room is let to a lodge o£ Odd Fellows, a Court of Foresters, and a Sanctuary of Shepherds, at a remunerative rental. The whole property has been thoroughly repaired, and a room suitable for billiards been added for the incoming tenant, who will be expected to take the fittings and hotel furniture at a fair valuation. For further particulars apply to Mr W. Gubbins, proprietor, on the premises.[1]
The original building is still standing, and in use for tourist accommodation, trading as Keebles Country House.[2]
