The Pub With Two Names was a hotel in Ballarat, Victoria, 2018-2020.

Site[edit | edit source]

The hotel is on the south east corner of Doveton Street and Mair Street.

Background[edit | edit source]

The hotel was named after two former hotels trading from the building, the Peter Lalor Hotel and the Royal Highlander Hotel.

History[edit | edit source]

The hotel opened on 10 April 2018.[1] The 17 old bedrooms upstairs have been converted into a number of apartments.[1]

The hotel was offered for sale in September 2019 for a price of $3,000,000.[2]

After forced closure during the 2020 COVID 19 lockdown, the hotel was reopened as the The Highlander.[3] Following the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, the hotel reopened in July 2021 as Mister Lalors Social Club.[4]
