White Flat House was a hotel in Ballarat, <1860>.

Site[edit | edit source]

The hotel was in Ballarat East, presumably near White Flat.[1]

Background[edit | edit source]

The hotel was licensed to William Edward Pierce in May 1860.[1]. In 1860 Pierce also held the license for the Burra Burra Hotel, which had earlier been the Duke of Wellington Hotel, on what was then White Flat road, and now Peel Street. The Burra Burra Hotel was also offered for sale at this time. So are the two hotels the same, or has Pierce moved to a nearby hotel because of the sale?
