The company held one of its early meetings at the Unicorn Hotel in Sturt Street, Ballarat, in August 1879:

WILSON’S FREEHOLD COMPANY. A meeting was held at the Unicorn hotel on Monday evening; Mr A. Mercer in the chair. The property is between Smith's Freehold Company, in Skipton street, and the Washington Company’s claim. It was agreed to register the company under the NoLiability Act, in 6000 shares of 10s each, 1000 to be fully, paid up; £150 to be placed to the credit of the company. Mr G. C. Robinson was elected manager of the company, and Messrs Alex. Mercer, J. Merton, E. Parkinson, S. Giles, and T. Lyons directors. Tenders were opened for sinking shaft; W. Short and party were the successful tenderers, and the company resolved to give a bonus of £10 if the shaft be put down the 200 feet in two calendar months to their satisfaction.[1]

The company held an extraordinary meeting at Craig's Royal Hotel to close the company in February 1884:

WILSON'S FREEHOLD COMPANY. An extraordinary meeting of shareholders in the above company was held at Craig's Royal hotel, Lydiard street, last night; Mr Mathew Lindsay in the chair. The meeting was called to empower the directors to wind up the company and to dispose of the plant, machinery, and effects— "That the directors are hereby empowered to wind up the company, and to dispose of the lease, plant, and other property of the company, and to do all other acts necessary for carrying out the same," —having been carried unanimously, the minutes of the meeting were read and confirmed and of thanks to the chair closed the proceedings.[2]
